Decisions have to be made

Saturday afternoon, and all is well. I love the warmth of the day and the fields looking plush. I also enjoy just being able to sit and have lunch looking out and admiring my view. I can tell you almost to the exact what each horse is thinking. No, I am not a whisperer, but I have been around them long enough to know their personalities and the reactions. These five right here are not hungry, excited to be out, or looking for any sort of trouble. They are content right now and waiting to see what the head mare intends to do with the new guy standing about 30 feet in front of them. The head mare is the dark girl in the center. She is sizing the newbie up and deciding what pecking order it might be put in. You see horses have a pecking order, from the top to the bottom. Just because the newbie just got here doesn't mean they will fall to the bottom of the order. So they are having to share their pasture with a newbie, and decisions have to be made. Who is rising up, and how is it going down? Eventually it will be settled, and they will go back to grazing and enjoying the rest of the afternoon.
